Message from Linda Shears, I/ACT Executive Director

Art Mix and Mingle - A Great Success!!  I/ACT hosted its first evening networking event, Art, Mix and Mingle on Wed Oct 6th in the Extraordinary Works Showroom at the Michigan Design Center.  Our sincere THANK YOU to the EW Showroom Manager,  Robert Zebrowski for letting us use his beautiful space to bring together artists and art lovers.  We had a creative crowd of 75 people who ignited the Showroom with amazing energy.  Many of the attending artists brought an example of their work.  It was wonderful to see the variety of talent in our Metro area.  There were managers from other Showrooms in the MDC attending the event.  They connected with several of the artists to possibly display their works in the MDC. Congrats!

The crowd enjoyed an educational wine sampling donated by Bill Schwab from Winebuys.com.  Thank you Bill for your expertise and your superb wines!

Tasty appetizers were donated by our members. Thank you Charlene and James Brown, Maria Hunciag, Bill Cowger, Diane Dillard, Zabel Belian, Larry Zdeb, Brian Bach and Vita Buffa for your culinary contributions.

Lynn Lim coordinated an amazing selection of generous door prizes.

Thank you Maria Hunciag for designing our flyers. Thanks also to the dedicated efforts of Lynn Lim, Charlene and James Brown, flyers were distributed all over the Metro area -- art fairs, galleries, coffee shops, art supply stores and other art groups. Their efforts resulted in unprecedented attendance.

We plan on doing this again. Stay tuned!

South Oakland Arts Association

The SOAA is 50 years old and meets monthly in Royal Oak at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 814 N Campbell Road in Royal Oak. Their new president, Janet Wharry is also a Troy resident.

Many of their meetings are in the evening, and feature monthly art competitions and very informative speakers. They also coordinate "paint together" field trips and even have a holiday party!  The annual dues at just $22 is a bargain. This is one additional way Oakland County artists can network and improve their craft.  A copy of the most recent newsletter (MS Word format) can be found here.
