Detroit Public TV Seeking Story Ideas
Detroit Public TV is seeking story ideas for the next season of Detroit Performs.
(Watch it 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays on WTVS - Detroit Public TV).

Detroit Performs is looking for stories about individuals who:
*    Have overcome adversity in pursuit of their art
*    Are tapping into the power of art to inspire or educate others
*    Are using art to strengthen a specific neighborhood
*    Are finding new and/or collaborative ways to create and share art
This is a great opportunity to tell your story. Submit story ideas at detroitperforms.org or contact Dave Devereaux at 248-305-3780 or  ddevereaux@dptv.org ..
New Art Links  & Art Programs on Youtube
"The Private Life of a Masterpiece" is a BBC series with 29 episodes of 45 minute stories about individual artworks including Munch's "Scream" and Van Gogh's "Sunflowers".  I found full length episodes by searching for the series name under google  videos. Most of the episodes were uploaded late last year by someone with a youtube channel called "ArtHistoryLuv".

The amazing thing is that youtube videos can be sent to one of the new HD TV's using a wifi connection, the google chrome browser and the new google chromecast device that costs around $35. HD TV's have also recently become much more affordable.  This configuration  also works with Netflix streaming video which costs around $8 per month.  "The Agony and the Ecstasy" (starring Charlton Heston) is an arts / artist movie available in HD through Netflix streaming. It's  about  Michelangelo, his sculpture, and painting the Sistine Chapel. It's an over the top, big production from 1965.  I don't think I've ever seen it on regular TV.

I'm sure there are lots of other ways to "stream" video. I recently started using Chromecast and thought I would pass the info on.

In searching for art videos, I also found the ArtsJournal.com and they have a wonderful sources page with links to the Arts and Entertainment sections of news publications all over the world.
