Golden Paint Workshop: Fri, May 2nd 10am-5pm  
    
Donna Beaubien and Jeanne Sarna of the Creative Arts Council will be coordinating an all day Golden Paint Workshop taught by Valerie Allen.

Learn about how to work with new products including Digital Grounds and Gel Topcoats. These products literally free digital images from the confines of prepared commercial print media. You will learn how to prepare multiple surfaces such as non-porous papers like acetate, acrylic skins, even aluminum foil to be used for printing your inkjet images.

Artist News: Vote for the Best Samurai Costume 
  
Janna Coumoundouros, an I/ACT artist and owner of Lilacpop is one of the ten finalists in the Detroit Institute of Art's  Samurai Costume competition.  Her garment is made with a new material called Inteather which is a car design material manufactured by Inteva in Troy. Other parts of the costume are comprised of bullet casings, and pieces from an antique clock.

Other artist news: Winnie Chrzanowski has twelve of her  photos on display for six months at the Om Cafe in Ferndale. 
Paint A Miracle :  Mon May 5th, 11:30am - 1:30 pm  
     
Paint a Miracle is an award winning organization that helps people living with disabilities and other challenges through art therapy.  I/ACT artist Cynthia Buchanan is a board member at Paint A Miracle.

"Images of Inspiration"  is an art show/sale, gala lunch and fundraiser which will be held at the Royal Park Hotel. It also celebrates the non-profit's 11th year. .

Troy Historic Village :  Wed, July 9th / 9am - 7pm   

In conjunction with the  Troy Garden Walk, the Troy Garden Club is  also sponsoring an Arts & Crafts Boutique at the Troy Historic Village (17 Mile & Livernois) on Wed July 9th. Set up begins the night before. They strongly encourage vendors to provide their own 10 x 10 foot canopy. However, there are a few spaces on covered porches and other areas.   

They only have room for 25 artists / crafters - so apply early. Well priced, garden themed items are the best sellers. To increase late afternoon traffic, George Papadelis from Telly's Greenhouse is scheduled to give a lecture at the historic village church.

Gifts of Art Call for Entries 2014-2015.


U of M Health Systems is  currently 

accepting proposals for the Aug 2014 - Aug 2015 exhibition year!  

Deadline is May 15th, notifications will be sent by July 15th. 


As one of the first and most comprehensive arts in healthcare programs nationwide, Gifts of Art brings the world of art & music to the University of Michigan Health System.  Their nine galleries display over 50 exhibits a year.  They include 2-D and 3-D spaces that are viewed by approximately 10,000 people a day.  The galleries are some of the most widely visited indoor, non-museum exhibit spaces in the state.   

 

They are seeking both solo exhibits by individual artists and group exhibits by arts organizations.  

 

Selections will be made from either online or mailed in submissions (details below)Emailed jpg images or in-person submissions will NOT be considered
