  I/ACT is now collaborating with the Troy Historic Village in an “Artisan Arts” program. I/ACT artists are currently scheduled to teach classes in Calligraphy, Pottery, Watercolors and more!

June 2016: Join us for a 3 Day Art Mix & Mingle Festival event! This is
an opportunity for artists and craft atrisans to show their handiwork! Opportunities are also available for craft artisans who would like to teach a class at the THV. The event will also include elements of music, dance and impromptu theater.

Art exhibit space will be provided in the Village’s historic buildings. Suggested craft areas include quilting, painting, photography, print making, book making and pottery. Artists need to register in advance.

Opening Reception:   Thurs, June 16, 2016
Wine, Hors D'oeuvres   5:30 to 8pm
Cost:   $15 in advance/$18 at the door.
($10 for participating artists)
     
"Amble Through the Art" on Friday and Saturday. Friday will feature artisan presentations and live workshops . Saturday will highlight art and artisan pieces from the THV's collection.
Day Two   Friday, June 17th / 10am to 8pm
Day Three   Sat, June 18th / 10am to 2pm
Cost   Regular THV admission
Father's are free on Sat June 18

I/ACT artists will again receive a spacious display booth at the Spring Home & Garden Show held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

The show runs from April 5-7, 2013. View the artists participating in the event.

March 2012 was the first year for the event. Digital Art by Mardi Chapman, Whimsical Paintings by James Homer Brown, Raku Pottery by Zabel Belian, Clay Tiles by Linda Buck and Silk Scarves by Ann Marie Curley and creations by many more artists were on display.

I/Act has wonderful new meeting location: The Belian Art Center in Troy located at the corner of Square Lake and Rochester Rd. This prestigious location was founded in 1985.

Zabel Belian, Gallery Director, is an artist who is skilled in painting and raku pottery. She also conducts art classes for all age groups. The gallery features exhibits of internationally recognized artists including Richard Hunt, Edward Avedisian and Emil Kazaz
 
 
Networking and I/ACT fundraising event: Three of metro Detroit's top retailers will teach you how to sell to stores and galleries! Our speakers:
Mary Liz Curtin of Leon and Lul
u, Anne Kuffler of Ariana Gallery and April McCrumb of Catching Fireflies.

The event attracted over 70 people metro Detroit and raised $1700 for I/ACT.
 
 
The Paint Creek Center for the Arts has NEW Regional Arts & Culture Award program. The mayors for eight municipalities selected award recipients and I/ACT was selected to receive the Arts & Culture award for Troy!

On October 6, 2010 I/ACT held its first evening event for artists. The artists' showchase and get together was held at the Michigan Design Center in Troy and was graciously hosted by Robert Zebrowski of the Extraordinary Works Kitchen Design Showroom. Over 70 artists and art patrons from all over metro Detroit attended.
     
 
Troy's Bemis Elementary School receives more colorful wall decor courtesy of I/ACT artists Diana Jellinek and Linda Shears who designed and painted this mural called "Say It With a Smile".

Funding for this project was received from the North Woodward Community Foundation and DTE Energy. The"100 Books" reading challenge mural was completed for Bemis in 2008.

The 2008 "Couture For A Cause" Karmanos charity fundraiser held at the Michigan Design Center featured evening gowns designed by I/ACT member Linda Shears and Troy Chamber President and I/ACT director Michele Hodges was one of the models!  Michele is shown above wearing a $300,000 emerald which was loaned for the show. Linda also designed fashions for the 2007 show.
 
 
The Free Friday "Brown Bag" Urban Arts Seminars continue in 2010. These one hour seminars are held at the Troy Public Library and will focus on the financial contribution of the rising Creative Class to the economy.     (See schedule.)

Several of I/ACT's seminars have been converted to 30 minute TV show segments which have been playing on Community Media Network. During parts of 2009, over two hours of I/ACT shows featuring Photographer Bill Cowger and Troy's Ridgedale Players Theater were broadcast per week.

Dr. Maria Hunciag, Cultural Arts Coordinator for the Troy Public Library coordinates the events and topics. Charlene Brown and James Homer Brown are responsible for the video recording and editing.
         
     
  Troy Photographer Bill Cowger has given several presentations over the past year and began 2010 with a talk about "The Business of Art".   In Februaryy, Larry Zdeb, a 3-D collage artist who is successfully showing his works throughout metro Detroit, discussed Art Marketing.  
         
Linda Shears is the Chairperson of the Image and Arts Council of Troy. December, 2007. Tom Gross, CEO of Ford & Earl graciously allowed I/ACT artists to display their work at the Ford & Earl holiday party held at the company's Troy headquarters on Big Beaver.

Many thanks again to Tom who has been a great patron of our group.
